One of the key accused in the multiple bomb blasts that were conspired on July 28, 2008 was apprehended by the Delhi police on January 22, 2018.

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has asked for remand of the accused, 47-year-old Abdul Subhan Qureshi aka Toufiq, to interrogate him on the conspiracy of the blasts in Ahmedabad that claimed 56 lives and left 240 people injured. Officials of the crime branch on Saturday said that Qureshi had run away to Nepal and was taking refuge there.

For the past decade, he was also working as a teacher in a local school in the country. Another significant detail traced by the officials was that he had taken refuge in Saudi Arabia from 2013 to 2015. "This particular bit of information of Qureshi's whereabouts is significant since it will help in unearthing all his links to terrorist organisations and other attacks they might have been planning. Thus it is critical that the Ahmedabad Crime Branch interrogates him with regards to his whereabouts and all the other co-conspirators of the 2008 attack. Qureshi also has links to the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)," said JK Bhatt, Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch.

Delhi police officials apprehended the accused from Gaziapur. Explaining other details of the accused, it was also noted that he was an electronic engineer and offered technical help for the bombs and other explosives. Qureshi is also a key wanted accused in terrorist attacks in Mumbai on November 26, 2008 and Hyderabad in 2013. Qureshi is a native of Uttar Pradesh and a resident of Mira Road in Mumbai.
