1650 teachers detained in Gandhinagar

On Friday, the members of Gujarat Primary Teachers Association (GPTA) staged a protest outside the Gujarat Assembly. The teachers were protesting the government's inaction over the long-pending demands of the association. 

More than 7000 teachers from all over the state had joined the protest against the government. Regarding the matter, the Gandhinagar police were alerted and an around 500 policemen were deployed in Gandhinagar. Every crossroads and circle in Gandhinagar were barricaded and vehicles were checked. The gates of Gujarat Assembly were closed from inside by the cops. 

During the protest, Gandhinagar police resorted to lathi-charge on the protesters, who were tried to get inside the Gujarat Assembly. The teachers had even tried to block roads in Gandhinagar by lying on the road, later were detained from the spot and the roads were cleared. A total of 1650 teachers were detained from different areas of Gandhinagar including Gujarat Assembly. However, the officials denied the lathi charge.
