Fourteen-year-old Harwardhansinh Jhala, who developed a drone that can detect landmines, impressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The visiting PM mentioned him in his address during the inauguration ceremony of Gujarat government's incubation centre 'International Centre for Technology and Entrepreneurship' (iCreate) in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

In his address, Netanyahu said that youth and technology can change the world. "(Here) 14-year-old has a drone in the sky that can identify landmine. It can solve so much suffering. Just 14-year-old." The visiting Prime Minister is optimistic about the transformation power the combination of youth and technology can bring in.

Harwardhansinh was elated by the reference made by Israeli Prime Minister. He was among 15 odd startups from Gujarat, whom both the PMs met at iCreate. "They met us, saw our drone and understood the technology behind it," Jhala told DNA. This is the second time that iCreate has proved to be a game changer for Jhala. It was about two years ago at the event 'Whatnext-2016' organised by iCreate that he got an opportunity to speak about his project. On Wednesday, he displayed his product to both the PMs at iCreate.

Jhala has incorporated a company called Aerobatics 7 and has a small place in Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad, very close to his home. With a team of about 10 people, most of them his friends, he is developing drones that can remotely detect landmines. He is unwilling to disclose to which organisations he has given demonstration but reveals that these are army and other paramilitary forces.

Jhala told DNA that, if given an opportunity he is willing to go to Israel to have a first-hand idea of the technologies developed there and understand the how the ecosystem is able to nurture so much of innovation. He also conducted a pre-launch of his product at iCreate on Wednesday.
