105 Class I, II officials penalised: Vigilance commission of Gujarat

The vigilance commission of Gujarat recommended the government to penalise 105 class I and II officials in the year 2016 under corruption cases. The annual report for the year 2016 was tabled in Gujarat assembly on Thursday that revealed much information on corruption cases by officials and employees working in different departments, boards and corporations of Gujarat government.

The commission reported that total of 138 orders of the penalty was issued to different employees and officials by their concerned department on the basis of the recommendations of VC.  This included the older cases or corruption referred to vigilance commission by the government. Total of 46 class I officials were penalised in these cases and out of those, 10 got heavy punishment, 12 got the reduction in pension and 24 officials got ordinary punishment.The highest orders of the penalty were served to class II officials in 59 cases that included 7 heavy punishments, 19 reductions in pension and 33 ordinary punishment. In 33 cases of penalty to accused class III employees, commission slammed heavy punishment to 3, ordered pension reduction to 8 and ordinary punishment to 21 employees. Surprisingly not a single class-IV employee was sentenced penalty by the commission.

The Vigillance commission also noticed that departments and board/Corporations recommended 89 cases for the opinion of commission in the month of retirement or after the retirement of employees.
