Gujarat police team will visit Hyderabad soon

After twin blasts shocked Hyderabad on Thursday evening, teams of Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory and Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) will go to Hyderabad to study the modus operandi as well as to provide input linked to the investigation that relates to Indian Mujahideen.

A senior DCB officer told DNA that once the dust settles down, the teams will travel to Hyderabad, mainly to get the details of the articles used, placement of the bombs as well as the suspects behind the blasts. “The teams will also share their knowledge and information related to the operations of Indian Mujahideen in connection with the Gujarat module of the organisation,” he added.

Apart from the ATS, a forensic team, too, will go to the Andhra capital to study the substances used in the blasts. Similar teams had visited Pune in Maharashtra when the city was hit by serial blasts.

Sources in the police department see the possibility of further terror strikes in the country, with Gujarat being the frontrunner among the terrorists’ targets.
Sources in ATS told DNA that following the lull in terror activities during recent months, pressure on terror groups to perform had built up, resulting in Hyderabad-like attacks.

Meanwhile, the ATS and the DCB have geared up to check any suspicious activity in Gujarat and have started quizzing the suspects of IM lodged in Sabarmati jail. According to sources, the cops plan to get into areas where possible sleeper cells could be operating. Teams of DCB are also keeping a watch on all the activities of history-sheeters.
