TLC can help kids beat stress
Published: Wednesday, Jan 6, 2010 on 16:17 IST

The death of a child is one of the most tragic of events. The suicide of 12-year-old Sushant Patil allegedly due to the fact that he had failed in four of his six mid-term exams is a shock.

Do we put an unnecessary burden on our children by asking them to constantly excel academically? DNA’s Mohan Kumar BN and Arun Dev ask city parents their opinion.

There must be good communication between parents and teachers to understand the child’s issues. Teachers must spend enough time with the child in order to know him well. Thus they will be able to point out if the child is not able to cope in class. Also parents should take more interest in understanding the real talent of a child apart from mere marks.
