Mumbai: After a successful run for 30 long years, being one of the most revered college fests in the city, Malhar opens its gates to a fresh, new element called Conclave, which will be held on August 14.

Conclave will bring together eminent speakers and erudite youth to participate in discussions on several ideological subjects.

"We hope to give the youth a platform to voice their opinions and beliefs and to think seriously about the issues affecting the nation. Statistically speaking, the youth forms a major part of the population and these sessions will offer an opportunity to college students in and around Mumbai to connect and interact with these prominent minds," says Preksha Sood, head of Conclave department.

Former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam will be inaugurating Conclave on August 8, at St. Xavier's College hall. There will be an hour long speech on youth and leadership, a topic relevant in today's day and age. This is a prelude to the Conclave that will follow a week later and is based on the theme A Young India in Tomorrow's World.

There will be two keynote sessions by renowned speakers on a broad theme which will be held on the August 14.Rahul Bose, one of the speaker's will be talking about Young India In Tomorrow's World. A major portion of India's population comprises of the youth who are looked upon as the future leaders of the nation.

With a country that is progressing rapidly in all fields, a persistent question is raised on the capability of these leaders of tomorrow. Rahul will highlight some of the points that make the youth efficient leaders of the future.

In a country teeming with people and opinions, what is the worth of one human's life?"Gregory David Roberts has traveled all over the globe, is aware about the hardships an Indian faces and has lived in Mumbai slums as well. So he will talk about, Sanctity Of Human Life. His focus will be on relevance of a single human in making a difference in the progress of a county," says Preksha.

Further, there will be forum discussions, on the lines of a debate but will not be political in nature. The committee members believe that the perception of reality isso heavily filtered through a media lens, a forum needs to addresses issues that have gained prominence in recent years with regards to the media. Gerson D'Cunha will be giving his perception on the role media plays today.

India, being a obsessed with religion, one of the forum questions the importance of faith in our lives today. Preksha elaborates, "It is an attempt to resolve the age old conflict between science and faith. The forum seeks to understand whether faith, science and rationalism should rest exclusive of each other or whether the three can be reconciled." Bishop Bosco Penha, the archbishop of Bombay, Nitin Nitsure, scientist and atheist, and Zakir Naik will be the speakers for the same.

Registrations for the keynotes and the inauguration speech begin on July 27 and will continue till July 30 on www.malharfest.org.
Registrations are open for students from all colleges invited for Malhar 2009
