DNA Academy and IIT-ian's PACE a leading coaching class for competitive exams post Class XII, conducted a free workshop for students and parents on Sunday, February 7. The aim of the workshop was todemystify exams like the IIT-JEE, MHTCET, BITSAT and AIEEE.
The workshop was packed to the brim with class X students seeking a direction to make their dream of getting into the IITs come true. With just few weeks left for their board exams, they were already enthusiastic to gain a head start into the 2- year preparation that they would need to go through to excel at exams like the IIT-JEE.
PACE which has been known to produce state level toppers in competitive exams and maths, physics and chemistry olympiads; shared how choosing the right coaching class can help aspirants. Praveen Tyagi the managing director of PACE, who is also an ex-IITian revealed that the IIT-JEE is not just meant for the toppers. He explained that even those who secured 60-80% in their Class X exams in the past were mentored and landed seats in the coveted IITs. The key to their success as shared by him; lied in starting out early and being sincere to the exam preparation. "If there is no motivation or clear reason as to why one wants to get into the IITs; clearing the exam will be impossible," said Tyagi.
The workshop was enlightening as most students learned about little known facts like the syllabus of crucial competitive exams being the same as that in class XI and XII. Tyagi urged students to keep their focus after Class 10 boards and complete the entire syllabus of junior college. The workshop was informative as students jotted down valuable tips. "The IIT-JEE exam is known to lift questions from the NCERT textbooks, so students could also refer them to gain a competitive edge," was one of the countless tips shared by Tyagi. He advised students to balance their studies and make judicious use of time. But he also warned against adopting rigorous study timetables.
Students also received a unique DVD containing videos of previous Maharashtra state toppers of IIT-JEE trained by IIT-ian's PACE. "It is a treasure trove of preparation tips for the IIT-JEE, life on the IIT campus, handling study pressures. It even includes parents' interviews on providing the necessary support," shared Tyagi. At the workshop, parents of previous toppers of IIT-JEE from IIT-ian PACE shared their experiences on how coaching helped their children reach for higher goals.
After the session students thronged to take the two-hour free entrance cum scholarship test for admissions to the preparatory courses offered by IIT-ian's PACE.The workshop was an eye opener for students and parents who took note of the attitude to adopt for a brighter future.
