In a bid to check drop out rate of students, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to provide career counselling to them.
"Counselling of students dropping after class five or eight should be done on priority and separate sessions should be held for educational and vocational fields," minister of
State for employment Bhagwati Prasad Sagar said here yesterday.
He said that a large number of children drop out from the school after class eighth.
"Special emphasis should be laid on counselling of such children," he said.
During the counselling session, the students will be motivated to opt for self-employment and told about new opportunities in traditional business.
"Feedback should also be taken from schools and colleges to ascertain that number of children benefited by counselling camps organised by the department," the minister said.
