While cumulative result for Gujarat was 60.81%, Surat registered a 75.75% result in 2010 SSC Board examinations. Ten students from Surat made it to that state's top ten list, while 22 featured in the city top ten list. Surprisingly, boys outshined girls this time around, as 13 of them secured places among the city's top ten.

73,564 students appeared for SSC board exams this year, out of which 50,743 cleared them. 18,167 secured a second class in the results. The number of schools who secured a 100% result in exams increased from 29 in 2009 to 40 in 2010, something that has pleased the education fraternity a great deal. While the overall result was high, not a single student of eight schools in the city was able to clear the exam and has a 0% pass percentage. Last year the number of schools facing the ignominy was 12.

Similarly, the number of schools securing results less than 30% has also decreased in this time.

This year the number is 29 against last year's 60. The result of various examinations centers include Bhagal with 85%, Surat North with 66.67%, Rander with 70.45%, Nanpura with 75.52%, 79.79% in Varachha, 59.88% in Udhna and Kribhco with 78.80%.
Out of the top 22, 13 are boys, while 9 are girls. Diyora Hardik of Sardar Patel Vidhyabhavan attained first position in the city's list with 96.31% marks, while Riddhi Joshi of BABS High School (Bardoli) secured the second position with 96.15%. Krupal Patel of L P Savani Vidhyabhavan was third with 96% marks.

Hardik, a student of Sardar Patel Vidhya Bhavan has attained the third position in the state's merit list with 96.31% marks and is at the first position in city top ten.
