Yet another complaint of overcharging of fee surfaced on Friday. Around 100 students of Gujarat Institute of Technology Studies visited the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) headquarters to protest that their institute was charging from them more than what the Fee Regulatory Committee had approved of.
According to the students, the institute charges Rs51,000 against the approved fee ofRs43,000. The institute charges Rs8,000 more in the name of 'development fee'. The students met GP Vadodaria, examination controller of GTU, and complained about issues like insufficient faculty and a single room laboratory without equipment.
"We have assured the students that a team of experts will check the infrastructure and the quality of teachers at the college," Vadodaria said. He said that GTU will crack the whip on such institutes which do not provide enough infrastructure and charge higher fees.
