In a first, the Maharashtra State Board is giving students a chance to consult with leading psychiatrists and share their exam-related woes. The Board declared phone numbers (both landline and mobile phone) on Thursday that students can call to be instantly connected to a qualified mental health professional.
In addition to these new phone lines, the regular board line will also be available for students. RR Bhise, secretary of the Mumbai division of the board, said, “Our regular board line is meant to help students with technical details. For example, if a student is getting late to reach the exam centre, what can s/he do? Questions like these can be answered. But when we realised that we are receiving a significant number of calls which were related to exam-related stress and our operators are not equipped to handle such situations, we decided to involve experts.”
The numbers which are already functional will continue until the end of the exams. The regular board line number will also be declared soon.
