SSLC: Bangalore Rural rules the roost

The Bangalore Rural district put up an amazing performance in SSLC 2011 results and topped the list by securing 87.43%. In March 2010 SSLC exams, Bangalore Rural district was in second place by securing 79.21%. And Chikkodi district was in first place with 79.92%.

This year, Bangalore Rural district manage to overtake Chikkodi district.

Among the top 15, Sirsi educational district improved its position from 9 last year to 4th place with an 85.30% overall results. Uttar Kannada district, which was in 12th in position last year, came 5th this time. Kolar district leaped from 30th position last year to 8th position this year with an overall 81.46%. Hassan too improved its position from 18th position last year to 9th rank. Other districts to better their position were Bijapur from 16th to 10th, Belgaum from 13th to 11th, Dharwad from 23rd to 13th this year.

On the other hand, many districts which were in top 15 last year and went down the list this year. Udupi was number 4 last year and it went down to number 6 this time. Mangalore was pushed down from 8th rank to 21st this time with an overall 78.30%. Bidar and Haveri districts remained in last two positions with an overall 53% and 74.31% respectively. Reacting to the performance of districts, state primary and secondary education minister Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri said, “A few districts performed badly and I will discuss with the department officials about what action should be taken to improve the results in those districts. I will also have a meeting with local officials and representatives on this.”
