To tighten security at the exam house on the Kalina campus and keep an updated database of examiners, Mumbai University is planning to introduce a smart card system for assessee teachers.
“The smart cards are going to be used to ensure more security at the central assessment centre and maintain a database of all examiners,” said Vilas Shinde, controller of examinations, Mumbai University.
The university is in the process of collecting information on examiners who have been asked to fill up forms, disclosing various details. The information will have to be certified by the college principal.
“This database will be upgraded regularly and will be used during the central assessment programme,” he said. Pednekar said that since paper correction gets delayed due to unavailability of examiners, the database will enable the university to check delays.
