Second merit list postponed

Nearly 1 lakh students, waiting for the second merit list, will have to wait for another day. The school education department announced on Friday, that the second merit list will be displayed on Sunday at 6 pm on the online admission website www.fyjc.org.in/mumbai.

“We have postponed the second merit list to Sunday as there were a lot of technical updates to be done by the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd (MKCL). Apart from attending grievances of nearly 1900 students, they had to update the vacant seats of individual colleges,”explained VK Wankhede, deputy director of school education department.

The department has postponed the merit list dates thrice till date.

The second merit list was to be displayed on Friday, July 24. However, on Tuesday, the education department extended the deadline for securing admission into junior colleges as there were a huge number of students who had failed to secure a seat in the first merit list.

However, this postponement will not delay the existing admission schedule. TA Shiware, principal of Hinduja College and core committee member of the online process, said, “The second merit list will now be displayed on Sunday, but students can take admission from Monday which doesn’t delay the start of the academic year.”

However, parents are disappointed with the further delay and are blaming inefficient officials for it. “They messed up with the first merit list and we had to run around from the college to education department. I am just waiting to get my daughter’s admission behind me. But the nightmare seems to be never ending,” said Arihant Dwivedi, a resident of Malad.
