President Patil to inaugurate concluding programme of Science Academy in Kolkata

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will inaugurate the concluding programme of the Platinum Jubilee of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) at Salt Lake here tomorrow.

Briefing newspersons about the event, SINP director Milan K Sanyal said many eminent personalities from the world of science, including 250 from India and 40 from abroad, will attend the four-day programme beginning tomorrow.

Patil, who will be arriving here this evening by a special IAF plane, will go straight to Raj Bhavan where she will be staying for two nights. She will also meet a cross-section of people at the Raj Bhavan next day after attending the INSA programme at Salt Lake.

Later, she would inaugurate a Solar PV Power project at Raj Bhavan in the evening. However, West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will not be present at the programme tomorrow because of other engagements. However, Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi and a host of other dignitaries would grace the occasion.
