Plum jobs for all IIM Ahmedabad students

Placements for all programmes of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) for the year 2012 ended on Saturday with all students getting bagging good jobs. The only students who did not get jobs were those who had opted out of the placement process.

The programmes whose students took part in the placements are the Post-Graduate Program (PGP), PGP-Agri Business Management (PGP-ABM) and PGPx (postgraduate program for executives).

PGP students were able to secure jobs in sectors of their choice, despite the slightly adverse market conditions. With more than 40% of the batch having prior job experience, the thrust was on lateral placements, to ensure that students could leverage their experience to the hilt.

Talking about this year's recruitment trend, Prof Saral Mukherjee of IIMA told DNA that though there was no obvious sign of recessionary fears among recruiters, one telling sign was the absence of international bankers.

Companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Aditya Birla Group, Siemens and Microsoft were among the recruiters who made lateral job offers at this institute this year. Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citibank and Nomura were among the recruiters from the financial sector.

In all, more than 120 firms participated in the placement process this year. IBM was the top recruiter having picked up 21 students from the campus. A total of 31 companies participated in the placement process for PGP-ABM this year, made 52 offers to 37 students who took part in the placements.
