NMIMS to set up new institute in Chandigarh

The country's premier business school Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) today announced to set up its institute here, the fifth one in the country with an estimated capital outlay of Rs55 crore.

"NMIMS campus is going to be the most prominent in imparting education in north India," NMIMS, vice-chancellor Dr Rajan Saxena told reporters here today. To be spread over six acres of land, NMIMS would begin classes from the academic session of 2010-11 with MBA courses.

"At the start of the academic session, we are expecting to enroll 300-350 students in this institute," he said. Acknowledging the strength of this region in entrepreneurial skills, NMIMS is also keen on floating custom made courses for entrepreneurs who are running family businesses.

"Our main objective of launching such type of courses are to act as a catalyst in professionalising the family businesses being run by family members," he said.

NMIMS would also launch integrated courses in the field of management of health care system in consultation with industry leaders and premier hospital institutes. "We want to introduce courses which will enhance the employability of people," he asserted.

NMIMS is currently running its institutes in Mumbai, Bangalore, Andhra Pradesh and Shirpur in Mumbai. It has also plans to set up campus in Gujarat by 2012.

The institute would also launch integrated courses in the field of management of healthcare system in consultation with industry leaders and premier hospital institutes.

"We want to introduce those courses which will enhance the employability of people," he asserted.

NMIMS is a university in diversified disciplines including technology, management, architecture, business commerce and intellectual property. It has over 6374 students pursuing their learning in 33 number of programmes.
