In a bid to take the academic curriculum in the field of robotics to higher level, a start up venture, which is being incubated in the National Design Business Incubator (NDBI) of the National Institute of Design (NID), is touring across the country.

Robots Alive is the brainchild of Abheek Bose. The enterprise recently started a road show and has been visiting various academic institutes and related companies in the country to share its knowledge in the field of robotics and spread awareness on the subject.

Talking about Robots Alive Bose said, "As far as robotics is concerned, India is far
behind compared to other countries, both in terms of education and innovation. The academic courses in the area are outdated and students need exposure to better technologies than the existing ones."

He said, "Nearly 99 per cent of the hi-tech robots are imported from other countries. It's high time robotics in India includes newer aspects like artificial intelligence, software system design, sensor fusion and so on."

"We will be working hand in hand with various international academic institutes to acquire greater knowledge and technology. We intend to tie up with various technical institutes and assist them in imparting education and consultancy in the field of robotics," Bose added.

He further said that "with support from the NDBI and our business partner, Morpheus Venture Partners, the venture is now at an advanced stage. We are now focusing on the road show as it provides us the opportunity to share our ideas and knowledge with the academic institutes and corporates across India."

Bose also gave a demonstration of the remote-controlled, hi-tech robot. The model has been successfully designed and developed with the help of four engineers, Manoj Sahi, Harshvardhan Deshpande, Jyoti Prakash Deo and NID graduate interning with the company Dasharaha Sevak, during their course of incubation in NDBI. The team will also conduct seminars and will interact with students and academia of various institutes and corporate houses as a part of the road show.

The road show started on October 11 at DAIICT in Gandhinagar, and is scheduled to head on to hit other institutes across the country like IIT-Bombay, VJTI Bombay, and cities like Pune and Bangalore, among others.
