The second day of placements in NID, called ‘industry interface 2009’, ended on a positive note ensuring that around 75% of the students who participated in the placements would be placed. The exercise will continue for one more day on the PG campus of NID, Gandhinagar.
On Thursday, 17 companies and over 150 students participated in the placement exercise. About the number of job offers the students of the institute received, industry relations & students’ placement officer at NID, Sujitha Nair said, “Mails from companies confirming placement offers have started flowing in from yesterday’s placement session. The mails will keep coming for around 15 days as some companies take time to respond. We have so far received around 25 confirmations of placement offers.”
She said, “The placement will go on for another day, at Gandhinagar. With the kind of response we have got from the companies and the way the placement is going on, at least 75% of our graduates will receive placement offers.”
The companies that are coming to hire the NID students have large number of job requirements. While there are some companies with around 10 vacancies, others have as high as 20 vacancies.
The highest number of job offers made by a single company has been as high as 17. Nair said, “However, we are yet to receive the confirmation in writing too.”
While the highest package offered to an NID graduate on the first day of the placement was Rs9.86 lakh, the figure is likely to go further north as a company has hinted the NID placement officials
an amount of around Rs10 lakh. Refusing to reveal the name of the company, Nair said, “The company has verbally mentioned the amount, but we don’t want to divulge too much right now as the company is to give the job offer in writing.”
