'MICANVAS' offers myriad colours

Ahmedabad: The three-day annual brand management festival of the Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA) kicked off on Friday, with students from across the country and abroad participating in the event. The annual event is entering its eighth consecutive year on the theme 'The Market Renaissance: Harnessing the Winds of Change.

'Participants from top business schools, including Harvad, Columbia, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), FMS, SPJIMR, XLRI, NITEI, IIFT and many corporate houses have converged at the event to compete against each other in case studies and business plan competitions, quizzes and debates, among others.

The major attraction on the first day of the event was 'Colloquium', wherein the international green marketing competition took place. Yuyu Chang and Bobby Deng,
students of CEIBSand Deepak Kannan and Ravi Prakash of SIBM (Symbiosis Institute of Business Management) were chosen as the two best teams. The teams were awarded US $2,000 and $1,000 respectively, while the student team from IIM-Ahmedabad got a special mention at the event and a cash prize of US $500.

"We received a total of 124 entries, of which only six were shortlisted for the final round. This apart, we are expecting around 600 students to participate during the course of the event," said Abhinav Krishna, a student of MICA and a member of the core committee organising the event.

The other attraction of the inaugural day was Mindspeak-1, wherein a panel discussion on today's market scene was discussed.

This was followed by programmes such as human foosball and graffiti, among others.
Another panel discussion will start the second day of the event on Saturday, after which event such as Amdavadi Treasure Hunt, Sports Quiz, Super Hero Marketing, Karaoke Night and many others will keep the visitors and participants pleasantly occupied.
