Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has received only seven suggestions from citizens in its efforts to create awareness and make the board examination more transparent.
The board had appealed to students, students’ organisations, teachers, parents, principals and education officers last month to send their suggestions to update and modify the existing guidelines for punishment of malpractices during secondary school certificate (SSC) and higher secondary certificate (HSC) examinations.
State board secretary Shahji Dekhane said, “We received three suggestions online and four through post. The response was lukewarm even after the deadline was extended by 10 days. Basically, our guidelines are strong enough to deal with malpractices and there is very little scope for modifications. Yet, we wanted to create public awareness about the guidelines. The invited suggestions included thorough checking of students at the exam centre and their admit cards, and changes to be made in the examination procedure.”
