“While the logistics and supply chain management in the industry is well developed, its application in disaster management is extremely limited in our country and it is an area that requires to be addressed urgently,” said Janki Andharia, professor at the JTCDM.
After developing the curriculum on logistics and supply chain management, Tiss conducted a workshop at the Confederation of Indian Industry Institute of Logistics (CII-IL) in Chennai. The curriculum was further modified at the consultative workshop. The courses will be offered jointly by JTCM and CII in the coming semester.
The module will train students of disaster management on all these aspects, right from the planning stage to packaging, distribution-transportation, warehousing, inventory management to execution which includes delivery and collection of supplies.
