Let us, like, rock on Bapu’s birthday: Youth
If there was one man who was instrumental in getting independence for India, it was Mahatma Gandhi. He was the man who made the impossible happen. A slim man, with round rimmed glasses and a humble, down-to-earth approach to one and all, he controlled the national movement for independence for nearly three decades.

A mass leader, he believed that he must identify himself with the masses he leads. No wonder then that the birth anniversary of the Mahatma, the father of the nation, is celebrated with reverence all over the country. In aapnu Amdavad, youngsters from all walks of life have come together to celebrate Gandhiji's birthday and to spread his message to others around them through fun-filled activities.

A day-long event has jointly been organised at Gandhi Ashram on October 2  by various groups of the city - Young Experimenters Group, India Peace Group, children from Gujarat Vidyapith, Manav Sadhana, Gujarat National Law University, Petroleum University, Tarumitra, Rootless music band, Oraworldmandala and Volunteer Ahmedabad. Youngsters of all these groups will get together to celebrate the day in a unique style so as to reach out to youngsters in a light manner.

"The idea is to make this everyone's event, rather than just associating to the freedom fighters, by having active participation of youth in the celebration as never witnessed before in the city. It's more about celebration of the values and philosophy, that existed since ages before Gandhi, which he lived with courage. We hope to convey the message through our activities," said Vijay Ramchandani, the event organiser.
