Indian text book authors are finally getting the global gates opened for them with a Bangalore-based leading text book publisher, Sanguine Books, entering into a marketing tie-up with global education books publisher, Pearson.

The two publishers inked a contract on Monday for marketing 70 Indian books globally. Almost all of them are from the engineering domain including computer, network and communication. The Sanguine proprietor Lal M Prasad said that the books chosen were those which had already proven their worth in the Indian educational area. “This is first time an international publisher has come up for the books of an Indian publisher for global marketing,” Lal said.

Pearson’s general manager, J Saravan said, Indian text books for the professional courses had come of age and doing well. “Indian authors of these textbooks are good. In the book scene two things count, the content quality and cost. Indian authors have been rubbing shoulders with foreign authors in both the areas for some time now.”

Many foreign students too go for Indian text books for the clarity and simplicity of the writings, he said.Indian experience in the professional education is valued overseas now.

Popular textbook writers in Karnataka, Ganesh Rao, said, “Indian authors on professional subjects had long proved their mettle. Now, with the tie-up we will go worldwide.”
