IIMA’s Insight to rock for first time this year

For the first time, the marketing fair of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), Insight, will feature a rock band entertaining the residents of the city. The institute’s very own band, Crescendo, will perform on the second day of the two-day event, during the musical evening of the fair.

In addition, Gaurav Dagaonkar of College Days fame, a graduate of the 2006 batch of the premier business school, will boost the line-up of the musical evening, with a special guest performance.

Talking about the IIMA band and its preparation, Gourav Bhattacharya, a student of the institute and secretary for Insight 2009, said, “The students’ rehearsals are in full swing. They will give a 45-minute to one-hour stage performance, presenting numbers from several genres. The idea of presenting the institute’s music band at the fair is to entertain the people and also make them aware of Crescendo.”

This year, Insight 2009 promises to be bigger and better than ever, as it offers prize money amounting to lakhs of rupees, in addition to the festival becoming a two-day event. The oldest such event organised by IIMA, Insight will be held on October 10-11 and will feature several competitions for the students of business schools from across the country for the first time. The usual events for the residents of Ahmedabad will be on the second day of the festival.

There will not be any entry fee for Insight 2009, which will have a number of food stalls offering a variety of cuisines and traditional recipes. Apart from games for all age groups, magic shows and a treasure hunt, events like rock climbing, mini-bungee and a flying fox will ensure an adrenaline rush at Insight. The inter-college events will include Antakshari and Filmi Chakkar, with institutes like the National Institute of Design, National Institute of Fashion Technology and Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad participating.
