The undue advantage that HSC students of Dalmia Lions College in Malad could get out of an alleged leak of a board exam paper has led to the clamour for a re-exam from students of other city colleges and their parents. Not only that, they have demanded that the re-examination be conducted pronto, lest it hinders their holiday plans.

There were reports of the March 4 Secretarial Practice paper in the ongoing HSC examination being a replica of the prelims exam paper of the same subject conducted by Dalmia College in January this year. The state board is currently investigating the matter.

Arundhati Chavan, president, PTA United Forum, said, “After thorough inspection, the state board should conduct a re-exam of the subject as several students will be at a loss if action is not taken.”

Bhargavi Gandhi, a commerce student, says, “Re-examination will be ideal, but they should do it early as no student would like to be interrupted during vacations,” she said.

Amrita Chandarkar from Bhavan’s College in Andheri, said, “Even a single mark can affect us as there is tough competition for admissions in undergraduate courses.”

When contacted, TN Sule, secretary of state board, said, “I am at my native place and not aware of the issue.”

Jayant Jain, president of the Forum for Fairness in Education, said he will pressure the board to take speedy action. “If they delay, students will have to cancel their holiday plans,” he said.
