Gujarat University scouts for a regular registrar

Gujarat University (GU) has finally woken up to the fact that it lacks a full-time registrar after questions were raised on credibility on the vice chancellor-appointed incharge registrar. The varsity on Saturday had advertised that GU wants to appoint a full-time registrar and a librarian.

The advertisement to recruit full-time registrar has generated much curiosity among people with questions being raised on credibility of incharge registrar, MN Shah. Shah, who has a court case pending against him, reportedly doesn't qualify norms to be appointed as full-time registrar.

According to Parimal Trivedi, vice chancellor of the university, this is just the beginning of GU's recruitment drive. Authorities aim to fill as many as 75 vacant seats by April as they now have
permission from the state education department to do so.

One of the reasons for recruiting at important posts (section officer, faculties, laboratory assistants, assistant registrar, etc) at GU is that the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) inspection is round the corner. NAAC will rate the varsity based on details like full-time faculties, officials, infrastructure and quality of education among others.
