Gujarat University is planning year-long celebration to mark it entering 60 year of existence on November 23. Besides several educational events, many cultural events too have been lined up till November 23, 2010.
The varsity was established on November 23, 1949. As on today, the varsity has nearly 230 colleges and two lakh students. It is one of the largest universities of the state.
Though, according to the V-C, Parimal Trivedi, the planning of events for the occasion is yet to be finalised. However, a marathon race will be held from Helmet Crossroad to GU on November 23, in which the varsity expects at least 25,000 students to participate.
"Sixty years is a long journey and we want to celebrate the occasion with full spirit. We will invite our alumni who have made a distinction in their respective fields wherever they are," said Trivedi.
As of now, the varsity is planning to create a 60 ft long cloth banner wherein students of the varsity will write their messages in order to mark the golden jubilee celebration.
