Ahmedabad: Summer placements for first year PGP and PGP-ABM students started at the Indian institute of Management, Ahmedabad on Monday. Summer Internships are mandatory for students who will have to spend 8-10 weeks in companies in the months of April-May next year.
Among the companies which visited the campus are big names in investment banking like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, JP Morgan, Nomura, HSBC, Deutsche Bank and Citigroup.
The first day of the summer placement received tremendous response from the premier institute's regular partners in the fields of investment banking and consulting, said secretary, placement cell, Himanshu Nema.
Admiring the enthusiasm of the students, a senior manager at Royal Bank of Scotland said, the students were well prepared and looked excited about the opportunities provided."We hope the international experience provided by an internship at RBS helps them ahead in their careers," he said. The bank hired more than 10 summer interns.
The secretary, Media Cell at IIMA, Rohan Desai, said that after getting recruited as per their expectations, students were happy that they were getting a chance to choose from among some of the top names in the industry.
