Cranes are an essential component of every manufacturing unit. Without the use of cranes it would be impossible for any manufacturing industry to function.

Hence, despite the slowdown, operators accomplished in the handling of heavy equipments and cranes at various polytechnic institutes have great demand. Manpower is required for both blue and white-collar servicing and maintenance staff.

According to trade analysts there are around 200 crane manufacturers in India with a market size of Rs2000 crore approximately. "Crane industry is huge and can be a great job creator for skilled and unskilled labour," said Tushar Mehendale, managing director of ElectroMech, which specialises in engineering and manufacturing of cranes.

He added, "Companies considering setting up a manufacturing base in India will need a large pool of professionals to handle the operations and other subsidiary functions of cranes."

Engineers seeking an entry can find jobs as design engineers. There are other white-collar openings for quality assurance and information technology professionals.
Various kinds of blue-collared professionals can be a part of the crane industry like production staff which handles the daily production operations. Stores and purchase is the department which deals with the vendor development and price negotiation.
