The Annual Mithibai BMS festival Colosseum, supported by DNA, rounded up with a bang and the efforts put in from the students paid off as it was quite a success. The festival celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and for the same had ‘Xtremes’ as their theme and all events revolved around it.
Colosseum had numerous events ranging from business quizzes to photography and dance, street plays and other smaller events. The judges were impressed with the students as they put up a tremendous show with the Creatives, which is their USP, receiving praises galore. Says Krishna Turakhia, Head of Department for Public Relations, “This year, we got more than average participation and more than that, quality participation. It was a fabulous dream come true for us organisers.”
The festival had 31 colleges participating this year and the organising team was on their feet to control the crowd which only seemed to increase each day.
“Our fashion show was a huge success and we had to shut the gates as the auditorium was packed with students,” admits Krishna, adding, “our pro-nite had all 2500 passes sold out and students from various colleges attended it as Raghav Sachar put up a fantastic performance and had the students dancing away.”
The hip hop dance competition had everyone in high spirits too. Jai Bhanushali, one of the judges of the dance competition, said he’s always been upbeat about this fest and being called as a judge made him feel he was back in college. Actress Anita Hassanandani judged the photography event and was all praises for the participants, who, according to her, showed great skill in displaying their work.
Sumi Ayinikat, faculty member of Mithibai, says, “This year’s committee has been exceptionally good and members have worked as a team. We are happy with the response we’ve received.”
Akshar Mehta, Chairperson of Colosseum ‘09, rounds up, “Since the last two months, we’ve put in about 10-12 hours everyday for this festival and things have been so chaotic, but after seeing the success of the festival, it feels worth it.”
