A class XII (Commerce) student of RR Tiwari Higher Secondary School, Sarangpur, went missing on Wednesday, with his father saying that the boy had run away from home fearing poor result in the board exams.

A class XII (Commerce) student of RR Tiwari Higher Secondary School, Sarangpur, went missing on Wednesday, with his father saying that the boy had run away from home fearing poor result in the board exams. The father filed a complaint in this regard at Ellisbridge police station on Friday.

Shankarlal Prajapati, a resident of Gujarat Society, Ellisbridge, stated in his complaint that he had sent his son Dinesh Prajapati, 17, to his aunt's home to hand over Rs1,600 at 5:30pm on Wednesday. "He went there and also gave her Rs1,500 and kept the rest with himself as was agreed. However, he did not return for a long while after that," Prajapati, who works as a peon at a private coaching institute in the city, said.

The parents started searching for Dinesh but to no avail. "Later in the evening, a neighbour told us that he had seen my son near Law Garden at 6:30pm. However, when we went there, he was not there," the father said. 

The complainant added that they searched for Dinesh all day long on Thursday also but could not trace him. Following this, Prajapati lodged a complaint with Ellisbridge police on Thursday evening.

"My son was brilliant at studies and was seriously preparing for his HSC exams, starting from March 17. He used to study as late as 2am," Prajapati said. He further said, "Also on the day he went missing, he was studying at our home with his friend, until I sent him out to hand over the money."

Ellisbridge police have registered a case of missing  person and are further investigating the matter.
