The Central Board for Secondary Education, (CBSE) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a uniform evaluation of the first summative assessments for grade nine students across the country.

The board has already dispatched subject-specific CDs, which will provide information on the marking scheme to all affiliated schools. These measures are taken in accordance with the continuous and comprehensive system of evaluation (CCE), introduced by the board in October 2009, for the grade nine students.

In a recent circular, the board directed affiliated schools to follow its instructions while conducting evaluation to ensure standardisation. The circular reads, “It is essential that every school conducts class IX examination as per given question paper models, and evaluation as per marking scheme provided by the board.”

Following the shift from compulsory board examinations to a grading system, schools have to conduct one summative assessment, using a pen-paper format of testing, every year.
The school managements are given a password to access relevant question papers.

According to fresh instructions from the CBSE, the same password can be utilised to access the marking scheme for various subjects.
