BU to set up new council to aid young teachers’ research work

Bangalore University is planning to set up a research council to encourage research activities. Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) director RS Deshpande will head the council.

The decision was taken at the academic council meeting held on Monday. Faculty members have been called to submit research proposals before the council. The sociology department will co-ordinate with the council.

The council will scrutinise project proposals submitted by the faculty.The main aim of the council is to encourage young teachers to conduct research.

The academic council has also sanctioned a fund of Rs1 crore for the infrastructural development of the campus.

The University has decided to cancel the affiliation of three colleges after considering a report submitted by the inquiry committee. The academic council passed the decision to cancel the affiliation of the Sir M VM College of Management, Chikkaballapur, which offers courses leading to bachelor’s degree in business management. TheNew Age College of Management studies, Shiddlaghatta, and the CNK Reddy College in Bangalore too had their affiliation to the BU cancelled.

The Counci also decided that candidates seeking copies of their results must make a request within seven days after the results are announced. For applying for re-valuation, studentsmustattach a photocopy of the marks card with the application.
