With a view to recognise the efforts of dedicated teachers, Eklavya Education Foundation organised the 14th Eklavya Excellent Educator Awards 2010 on Saturday at Ahmedabad Management Association.
Meenaben Jethwa won the Eklavya Excellent Educator Award while Belaben Mehta was awarded the Eklavya Excellent Young Educator Award trophy.
Kamini Jaiswal, senior advocate, Supreme Court of India was the chief guest for the occasion. Hitendrakumar Trivedi and Sudhaben Joshi secured the title of Eklavya Excellent Institution builder. As many as 250 people were present on the occasion.
Bilaben Mehta of Baldana Pay Centre School believes in teaching the students in a different way. "I have always told the students that if you want to succeed in life, then look at your weaknesses. Then work on it and convert them into strengths," she said.
Hitendrakumar Trivedi, of Sheth CN Vidyalaya said he wants to be a friend, philosopher and guide to the students and teachers of the school. Trivedi regularly motivates his students and his staff in various activities including sports.
In-charge principal at Blind People's Association (BPA) Sudhaben Joshi, has been in this field for 23 years. Sensitive, loving and devoted, Joshi’s excellent communication skills help BPA students in knowing and understanding things in a better way.
"My aim is to ensure that the visually challenged are treated as normal and given the same opportunities as anybody else," she said.
