The announcement that those who have missed the CAT exams due to glitches will be able to reappear may be good news to many, but for several students who have appeared successfully, it has become a cause of worry as they fear that their scores might not have been registered, and that they could also be allotted a fresh date since several such cases have already come to light in the last few days.
Rajan N, an engineering student, who has successfully taken the CAT, said, “I know about students who have been given rescheduled dates despite successfully attempting the papers. I hope there are no unpleasant surprises in store. I am checking my e-mails and the CAT website regularly to learn if there are any alerts.” Parag Chitale of CLPC coaching institute, said, “It could be a possibility. We will have to wait for the new schedule. There were some students from my institute who had been given new dates despite successfully attempting the paper.”
Meanwhile, experts want the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to rationalise the scores as the difficulty level throughout the nine days of the CAT was inconsistent. “The difficulty level has not remained consistent throughout the nine days. The papers had become tougher towards the last few days. Though the IIMs have not made any official announcement on this, we are hoping that they will do something to give all students a fair chance,” said Arks Srinivasan, managing director of TIME coaching institute.
