The CAT may be belled. The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed issuing notices to the directors of Indian Institute of Management at Bangalore (IIM-B) and Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and the principal secretary of union ministry of human resources and development (HRD) over a petition filed by a student pleading for the cancellation of the online test and rescheduling it with a pencil-paper format test.
The High Court bench, headed by Justice V Gopala Gowda, was hearing the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by 26-year-old CAT 2009 candidate Harsha NS of Marathahalli.
The director of IIM-A, Satish Deodhar, is also the convener of the Common Admissions Test (CAT) 2009, which was conducted online for the first time in the country by Prometric from November 28 to December 7. The online test did away with the 30-year-old CAT practice of taking the examination in a paper-pencil format.
