Ahmedabad: The sudden closure of Global Campus Management Group (GCMG) which runs nearly five educational institutes in Australia has left education consultants in Ahmedabad shocked.

Many of them have not been paid their commissions and their clients mostly students from Gujarat have also not been refunded their fees.

DNA talked to educational consultants recruiting students for various education institutes in Australia to get their views, but none are ready to talk on the issue which has left students stranded.

Many of them voice that GCMG has cheated them and it has neither paid their commission nor refunded money of the students.

A consultant said requesting anonymity, "There were apprehensions about the GCMG's financial condition among the educational consultants working for Australian institutes in Gujarat. In fact, GCMG people had organised a meeting with educational consultants on October 26 in Ahmedabad and assured that they should keep sending students to their institutes and there are under no financial crisis."

He further said, "GCMG kept depositing the drafts of students sent by consultants till November 5 and on November 6. We came to know later that the group has gone for voluntary administration. The group has duped us with the students and our money and disappeared."

Another Ahmedabad-based consultant confirmed that the group has not paid any commission to consultants in Ahmedabad.

"It is good that Australian government has assured the affected students to relocate them to other institutes. The parents of students should not panic and worry about the students academic future. However, the group has not paid 75% of our commission. There are cases in which visa applications of student have been rejected too,"said the consultant.
