Premier B-school signs two more MoUs with US varsities.
Living up to its reputation as 'the top Indian business management institute', the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has been witnessing increasing interest from American students lately.
Out of around 60 tie-ups with different business schools across the continents with IIMA, the largest collaboration has been from the European continent with around 50% of the tie-ups with European business schools. The institute's number of tie-ups with American institutes has been comparatively less.
However, IIMA is signing more MoUs with American institutes, indicating increasing interest of American students in IIMA.
Talking about the new MoUs being signed between IIMA and American institutes, manager of global partnerships and corporate affairs at IIMA, Ishita Solanki said, "We have recently arrived at the final stages of signing MoUs with two more American institutes including the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University and Darden Business School at the University of Virginia. The process should be complete and the students exchange with these institutes should be operational from September 2010."
With the new collaboration, IIMA also becomes the first Indian business school to partner with Fisher College of Business for students exchange programmes.
Saying that the new collaboration will not only increase the opportunities for student-exchange between the institutes with a greater choice of institutes for the students of IIMA, Solanki asserted that the development has also indicated that the students in USA are getting more interested in IIMA. Solanki added, "Among various other criteria, the institutes which are signing the MoUs with us would do so after considering the amount of interest of their students in IIMA."
She said, "What is more welcoming to us is that these institutes with which we have signed the new MoU are well known institutes in the world." Under the students exchange programme of the institute, ideally two students are exchanged with each institute. The number would remain the same for these American institutes as well. This year around 100 PGP-2 students of IIMA had gone to different institutes under the exchange programme with a similar number of students coming from the other institutes to IIMA as well.
