The registration process for the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) examinations, to be held in March next year, completed on Friday.

According to tentative figures issued by the GSHSEB officials, there has been a marginal rise in the number of students registered for class X and a minor dip in registration for class XII examination.

Lakhs of students across Gujarat will take the exams. The GSEB has announced that class X board exam will start on March 13, 3014.

Over 9 lakh students from nearly 9,998 schools from different parts of the state have been registered for Class X and over 5 lakh registered for class XII examinations.

Chairman of the GSHSEB, RR Varsani, said the process to calculate the exact registration figures was on. “As per the system, the total number of students registered will come out on Saturday and we expect the figures to go up,” he said.

Officials of the board said there has been nearly 8% increase in registration for class X examination. This is because more students are getting registered from the Open School- a concept where dropout students can study at home and appear for exams, he added.
