Thousands of parents from across the city will gather today at Azad Maidan to protest against the state government for giving liberty to schools to decide the entry point for students who will be admitted based one the  25% online admission quota under Right to Education (RTE). The protest is going to be led by Anudanit Shiksha Bachchao Samiti (ASBS).

The online form filling process which was scheduled to begin on February 5, 2017 has been delayed. Sudhir Paranjpe, convenor, ASBS, said, “How can government give liberty to schools and the management to decide the entry point level. It is because of this that most of the schools have kept Class I as the entry level admission for RTE, despite having a pre-primary section in their school.” Govind Nandede, Director, Primary Education, Pune, said, “Once schools complete the registration process, we will inform parents about the dates to fill the forms online.”
