Marks unchanged after random checking: Board

Parents, students demand answer sheets be made available online.

The new syllabus for science and mathematics introduced by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has taken a toll on the marks of students.

Along with parents and guardians, they  are agitating outside the Pune division of state board office for two days. The protestors are demanding that the answer sheets should be published online.

The random sample checking of some ten students conducted by the board showed that the marks remained unchanged. “There was no change in their results and the marks they got were correct,” said divisional chairman Sunil Chauhan. He said that for the past four decades, the board is conducting the exam and declaring the results consistently and that the assessment done was correct.

Anil Kumar, a parent said, “The marks of my daughter have not been changed. Now, I have applied for the photo copy and revaluation of the answer sheets.”

Madhuri Gunjal said, “My son has got zero marks in practical/oral exam and 12 marks in the written exam. I am surprised and will have to wait till June 6 to know the truth.”

The parents on Saturday demanded that the board should stop the admission process for engineering colleges. Sanjay Bhat, whose daughter is loosing a chance to get into a medical college by 1%, said, “My daughter scored 38 in physics, 45 in chemistry and 64 in biology. Her group total is 147 and she needs 150 to be eligible for NEET exam for medicine. State board chairman Sarjerao Jadhav said, “We have done a correct paper assessment, but if the students have doubt they can go for revaluation.”

BJP to agitate

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to agitate against the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education for incorrect results. In a press statement, MLA Girish Bapat said, “The state education board’s incorrect assessment of papers may jeopardise the careers of students.”
