In this world of cutthroat competition, students often feel depressed due to their confusion about choosing between a career of their interest and the career of their parents' choice.

In spite of this confusion, a large number of city students studying in CBSE schools gave a miss to the Students Global Aptitude Index (SGAI) test which was conducted by the board on Saturday.

This was the second year that the board conducted the test for students of class 10- who will be choosing a stream to build their career in the next academic year when they enter class 11.

The test is meant to measure the interest as well as the aptitude of children in different subjects and streams and suggest thereafter the choice of career which they may make after completing their board examination.

In Indore, the test remained unpopular in students as only those schools which had made it compulsory for all students registered close to 100% participation.

"There are total 270 students in class 10 in our school of which just 32 students took the SGAI test. Most of them did not take the test stating that it would not help them for as they have already made a choice," said Vidyasagar School Principal S K Joshi.

Students, who willingly gave a miss to the test, claimed that they have already started taking coaching for competitive examinations which will help them get admission in the stream of their choice.

In fact, the test was not held at many schools including Daly College, Choithram School, etc.
Endorsing the utility of the test, many schools had made it compulsory for all schools.

"We registered more than 95% participation as we had made it compulsory for students. The test only helps them understand their potential in various streams," said Bhavan's Prominent School principal Subrata Banerjee. Similarly, Advanced Academy and DPS too made the test compulsory for all students.

"Even though the result came much late last year when students had already made their choice in class 11, it is still useful for students to understand their aptitude level," said Advanced Academy principal Manoj Bajpai. CBSE will be announcing the result of the test in February nest year.
