The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has announced the dates for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board examination. The HSC board examination will began on February 28, 2017 and end on March 25, 2017. The SSC board examination will began from March 07, 2017 and end on March 29, 2017. The board usually announces the dates and timetable in June of the previous year, giving sufficient time for students to prepare, but this time the board delayed in declaring the dates. Also the paper on General Knowledge will be an online exam for HSC students.

Gangadhar Mhamane, Chairman, MSBSHSE, Pune, said, "Keeping next year's election dates in mind, we have decided the SSC and HSC board examination dates and made the announcement. This time, unlike every year, General Knowledge (GK) graded subject board exam paper will not be of pen and paper for HSC students, but the board has decided to conduct it in online pattern."

Last month due to the delay in declaring the board exam dates, some fake messages of the exam timetable were doing the rounds on social media. But the board clarified that they had to wait to get the dates of the next year's election dates from the Election Commission, so that the board examinations and elections don't clash, and school campuses can be made available for election work. Hence the board did not declare any timetable. The board exam dates and the timetable, which can be viewed on mahahsscboard.maharashtra.gov.in, will be held in nine different regions—Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nasik, Latur and Konkan region.

The board has also requested parents and students to contact the divisional board within 15 days in writing if anyone has any concerns with the exam dates. The dates of oral, practical and internal examinations will be declared by the board soon in a different timetable for all schools and junior colleges.
