Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said his government would constitute a high-level committee comprising renowned doctors for suggesting ways to bring about improvement in the field of medical education and research in the state.

Presiding over a review meeting of the Medical Education and Research Department here, Khattar asked the officials to ensure that equipment in all medical colleges is in working condition so as to facilitate the patients and said not even a single machine should be out of order.

The chief minister, as per an official release, also sought a list of medical equipment which has been lying defunct in medical colleges.

He expressed displeasure over the non-installation of fire-fighting system at the auditorium of the University of Health Sciences, Rohtak and directed that the same should soon be installed.

Khattar said his predecessors in the government had set up a trauma centre at the university but had not sanctioned required number of posts causing inconvenience to patients. He directed that responsibility of those concerned should be fixed in this case.

At the meeting, Health Minister Anil Vij told the chief minister that a number of institutes including medical colleges, dental colleges and nursing colleges has been granted 'no objection certificate (NOC)' by the erstwhile government after May 16, 2014.

On this, Khattar directed the officials concerned to submit a report about these institutes. The chief minister said his government would promote ayurveda in the state.
