Students, who appeared for GujCET on Thursday, are a happy bunch, for the test was an easy one. Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GujCET) is conducted for students opting for admission in engineering, medical and dental courses in the state.

GujCET wasn’t to be conducted in the first place. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was to replace it, but a delay in Supreme Court’s decision to conduct the national-level test came as a boon to state students. GujCET was conducted and all questions were from the course textbook of the state board. Questions in NEET would have been based on CBSE syllabus.

“The paper was easy and without any bloopers. Only a few MCQs were difficult in the physics test,” said Parth Patel, one of the students. No cheating cases were registered. GujCET has 60% weightage in the admission process, while the higher secondary exam holds 40%.

According to Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), 39,567 students appeared for the common entrance test in 27 examination centres across Gujarat.

Ahmedabad City hosted 3,088 students while 1,471 appeared for the test in district centres.
