If the city can boasts of 100 per cent results for class X exams in all its CBSE-affiliated schools, it’s also because the 11 dyslexic students of Prerna School overcame the hurdle successfully. Despite being faced with a learning disability, these kids were strong in will. They studied in a special school to stand at par with the other children of their age.

This year all the eleven students of Prerna, a special school for dyslexic students, passed the CBSE exam. The school is being run by the Calorx Foundation which also runs Delhi Public School at Bopal and Maninagar.

According to the head of the school Arti Mishra, 11 students had appeared for the exam and all of them have passed the exam with fairly good marks. While Kaivan Dastoor scored the highest, 78.4%, Zubin Bhujwala and Kaizad Dastoor achieved 68.8% and 65.6%, respectively.

Other students who passed the exams are Tapasvi Patel (64.8%), Neel Savla (62.8%), Tanaaz Vakil (61.4%), Ashna Agrawal (59.6%), Nishant Chowdhary (58.8%), Pranjal Dharpure (56%) and Hitesh Khemani (55.4%).

“This was out sixth batch; we have been teaching children suffering from dyslexia for the past seven to eight years. Ours is the only school of its kind in Gujarat, and we are proud that all the students, even in the previous years, passed the exams with good marks,” Mishra said.

She also said that for students of such schools, CBSE allows an hour extra during exams. “They are like any other normal kids, but need extra care and support. We just try to boost their confidence,” said Mishra.

Most of these students said that they wish to study commerce and would like to become accountants or managers. Kaivan Dastoor, who scored the highest and plans to pursue commerce, said that he also loves sports and will spare time for it. While, Ashna, on the other hand said that she will take up commerce, and later pursue MBA.
