The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has warned private schools of sending surprise teams to monitor attendance of students.

City school has received the instructions this week in which they have been asked to be prepared with the documentation work of students. "The board is going to send random surprise teams who will check whether the school has maintained attendance and leave documents of children as well as that the minimum attendance is maintained," said ILVA school principal Dr Sanjay Mishra.

He said that schools will be randomly selected for the inspection.

Classes 9th and 10th will be monitored by the board's surprise teams which are the two senior most classes in which the board's Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) format of assessment is implemented.Although the board has not specified the reason for introducing surprise teams in schools for monitoring attendance of class 9th and 10th students, officials claimed that it is due to the leniency of schools given to students.

"Some schools are not strict about the minimum 75% attendance of students and that is reason for board's decision as these classes have CCE attendance for student's participation in co curricular activities is also very important," claimed officials. The summative assessment I of class 9th and 10th recently concluded.
