A school bus service catering to nearly 5,000 city students is facing identify crisis as it shares the same name as the bus service whose conductor molested a three-year-old in the bus last week.

Running for the last 22 years, Sai Ganesh Travels ferries students of reputed schools such as Billabong High International Schools, Podar International School, Ryan Group of Schools among others in the western suburbs and Navi Mumbai. But as it shares its name with the Juhu school bus service, the owner Deepak Naik says the confusion has marred the reputation of his travels.

“I cannot believe that a name can cause so much trouble. After reports about the molestation case surfaced, many of our clients thought that it was our school bus. My phone just kept ringing as the school managements were worried that we were the accused bus service,’’ Naik said.

Naik added he had to issue clarifications to all the schools. “I will never forget the two days after the reports came out. I was relieved when the name of the owner of that bus service was revealed. My clients finally understood that it was a different bus service. However, now outsiders have started mistaking us for that service. Our reputation has been considerably damaged,’’ he said.
